Insurance Implications
Speeding Tickets and Your Insurance Company
Normally most insurance companies will not increase your insurance rates due to one conviction.
The problem is that most people didn’t plan on getting the first speeding ticket. So a second ticket will certainly not be expected. One speeding ticket will normally not increase your rates, but a second ticket will put you in jeopardy of a rate increase.
Depending upon the insurance company a second or third traffic ticket can result in a dramatic insurance increase. If there is an accident or claim made expect rates to be increased dramatically. If you have too many tickets, or claims the insurance company may either refuse to renew your policy, they can put you into Facility Rating. "Facility Rating" means high risk insurance rates of thousands of dollars per year, for at least three years, or until you have a clean record.
A couple of speeding tickets on your record could cost you thousands and thousands of dollars. Many people look at the cost of the ticket and say why would I pay someone to fight this hundred dollar ticket? Well the answer is because the insurance implications could cost you hundreds and hundreds of dollars more.
Insurance rates do not go up or down by twenty or thirty dollars per year, they increase by hundreds or thousands of dollars. Not just for one year but for up to six years.
Is it worth paying for a qualified person to appear for you in court? Yes, when losing can cost you thousands of dollars it’s usually worth the price to have a qualified person who knows all the ins and outs of a speeding ticket to represent you.
When you have a qualified person appearing for you in court you get every opportunity of winning your ticket completely. The agent from Ontario Traffic Tickets will be a person known to the prosecutor as someone that they cannot bluff or mislead in any way. The agent of Ontario Traffic Tickets will ensure if there is anyway of having the ticket dropped that he will find it. If there is a resolution or plea arranged it will be one that has a direct benefit to the client and not to the court.
To many people having someone represent you in court will save having to take time away from your work, further saving you money.
Use caution when phoning insurance companies for advice. Remember that insurance companies are not public companies there to help you, but private businesses out to make a profit. If they see a way of increasing your premiums they may take it.
Insurance companies do not audit or check the driving record of all of their customers every year. If they are contacted about a particular policy they can flag that policy and do an audit on the policy and drivers record upon renewal.
Phone your insurance company for advice with caution. Anyone needing to ask advice should phone the qualified agents of Ontario Traffic Tickets for a free consultation anytime before speaking to their insurance company.
